Reliance General Insurance Company is part of the Anil Dhirubai Ambani Group (ADAG) that is valued at ₹4,007 crores (as of March2017). The company has the largest distribution network that comprises of 129 branches and more than 24,500 intermediaries.

Unlike the other general insurance players in India, which have a foreign company stake, RGIC is solely promoted by Reliance Capital. The domains include motor, health, travel and home insurances. 

As per the recent valuations, the company is valued at Rs 6,000 crores. The company is also looking for a strategic partnership through a stake sale, which could help the company expand its business area and reach. Reliance General Insurance Company witnessed a profit of Rs 130 crore and increased its investment book to Rs 6,724 crore.

This is the third company from Reliance Capital that is coming for an IPO after Reliance Home Finance and Reliance Asset Management Company.

The other general insurance players that we could see coming for an IPO this fiscal are HDFC Ergo General Insurance's acquisition of L&T General Insurance.
